March 2024 Chair Report

Activists in Nevada County Supervisorial District One celebrated their successful get-out-the -vote campaign for incumbent Heidi Hall who achieved a 7.5% victory margin over the 50% of total votes needed to defeat two electoral challengers this season. Jessica Morse, candidate for Congressional District #3, had 50% of the vote here in Nevada county, buy only 43% in the whole district. Although the latter may seem disappointing, political pundits at the state and federal level think she has plenty of room to harvest votes, but Kiley has most likely topped out!

Speaking of electioneering, several of our local leadership team attended a two-day Campaign and Candidate training event held mid-month in Placer County. Candidates and organizers from ten inland area counties attended under the auspices of the Sacramento-based CD3 Regional Partnership. The Partnership encourages candidate recruitment and training in adjoining flatland, foothill, and mountain communities within the inland Northern Sierra Nevada. Nevada County is located in the epicenter of this expansive region, and our activists support all adjacent efforts to bring higher quality representative governance to the area. Anyone thinking of running for office should attend the training listed above and any others available.

Meanwhile, our local DEM Central Committee meets at the Briar Patch Community Room on the third Thursday each month at 6:00 PM. Come in person to observe your local good governance electioneering organization right where the sausage gets made. We often also Zoom the meetings. contact me personally for the link. Visitors are always welcome, especially when defending Democracy, Our Freedoms, and the Planet.
